After those inconveniences, one would think a complimentary upgrade or at least a warm welcome would be in order, sadly, it wasn't! Absolutely ridiculous!

spa bath, spacious deck area, large rooms
Street noise can be quite annoying!!! The restrictions on food odors are not ideal, especially in a seafood-loving town!!! The absence of adequate ventilation for cooking may limit culinary options!!!

The rooms were good sized, there was a very comfy bed. The bathroom was generous sized and it had a shower, a hairdryer, and bath sheets for my convenience. I found the hotel's location particularly good, close to eateries:)))

The room was well-appointed and top-notch, with smoke detectors and nice views of the lake. The bed was large and there were refrigerators, an oven and kitchenware...

The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would definately return. The room was very clean and spacious. It was very modern and had a heatpump. There was also a pool and you could pay to use the spa and/or sauna. It was a 5 minute drive from the township. I didn't mind staying there as it is definately the best motel that close to town

Loved it. Well priced place, had a pleasant stay in a wonderful town. The staff was efficient and amicable, as well as host. The location was unbeatable and stunning, approx 10-15 minutes' walk from Whale Watch Kaikoura.

Stayed at the gateway for two nights in a lovely standard two-bedroom apartment. The bathroom was spacious with a great shower. The unit was clean and comfortably furnished. We also enjoyed the friendly service from the staff who were knowledgeable about local dining options.
parking might be tricky when the units are full.
